I needed to check out our Gaz cylinder today to see how empty it was so put this chart together to make looking up quicker in the future.
The Cylinder is marked around the rim with its empty weight (3.6 Kg) and weight of gas it holds (2.95 Kg).
From other discussions on the forum the 904 cylinder is 3.00Kg and holds 1.8Kg of gas,
and from the web the 901 cylinder weighs 0.26 Kg and holds 0.45 Kg.

If anyone has the values for other cylinders I'll add them as well.

I recently wieghed a 607 cylinder on the bathroom scales. Full it weighed 6.40kg which means that the canister weighs 3.68kkg. Weighed a nearly empty one and found there was 1/2kg gas. Good saving.

I emailed Coleman (current owner of Campingaz) about this and received the following reply:

"The empty weight of the R907 is 3,9kg (6,65 full) and the R901 is empty 1 kg (1,8 kg full)."

The 907 figures are around the same as those measured, but the 901 is quite different.

My graphs are here:

I hope that helps rather than confuses matters.....

I usually just pick it up and shake it. I think I can pretty much tell if it's quarter, half or three-quarters full that way :D

I would have thought the lighter weight, see through, re fillable cylinders would have become a lot more popular than they seem to have ..

I recently saw a little device looked like a Pen , all you had to do was run the pen down the side of your canister and it indicated how full it was , now I have tried ti find one of the helpful little tools but had no luck.
If any one as seen them or they use one would you let us know .

Brilliant :-)

I was pondering the weight of my 907 the other day and my mate sighed, grabbed it, shook it, and said, "that's full mate". He was right :-)
