hi folks,
i've just had to call out the AA to the bongo this morning. it was completely flat, the AA guy done all the usual checks and told me that my altenator wasn't giving out any charge at all. the fuse on my split charger has been blowing as well, i really dont understand the electrics. so does anyone have any ideas why this has happened or can i just put it down to the altenator has run its course & i just need to replace it. the club shop wants £225 for new one but there on bongobits for £135. any suggessions about why this has happened or the best place to buy nem altenator would be most grateful. thanks

stevie :?

Hi Stevie,
I would get the system checked out by a auto electrician before you fit a new alternator.

(owing to the fact that its/or has been blowing fuses)

In most areas there are small companies that can repair things like alternators and starters for a lot less than a replacement. Try looking in yellow pages, or yell.com

I had mine rebuilt/rewound at a local auto electrics specialist for £70.

Thought at the time that it was far too cheap & to expect the worst but two years later its still doing the job.

Worth a local search if it really is the alternator.
