Replace / repair or block off this tubing? (EGR?)

I've searched, and it would seem to be part of the EGR actuation plumbing... so:

Q. Could you simply seal this off, rather than buying a replacement, or trying to loctite it together ? (do you have to seal both ends)

(this is at the rear of the engine, on the drivers side)

From the description, I think it's the part mentioned here... but, say you didn't want the EGR... can you simply seal these broken bits, or do you need it fixed? (any other side effects?)

Broken black pipe/green one way valve near EGR: Many Bongos come in from Japan with this broken; it’s fairly brittle and can break if knocked. If you don't want to replace it, a couple of cheap fixes have been suggested

I know people have glued them back together in the past or if you check out the free/swaps stuff section theres a couple of members breaking bongoes at the moment, so I am sure you will get one for the price of some loctite

Can you simply seal off both ends and disable the EGR (if that's what this is for ?).

I think you should be ok sealing them off, shove a matchstick in each end, then it's easily reversible if you find it does cause any problems.

If you want to be sure it's sealing off, yes, I'd blank it off with plates at either end , either knock some up yourself or give Allans a shout - http://www.allansvehicleservices.co.uk/57380.html £12 a pair inc postage - bargain :D

This may help - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 43&t=14463

Errr....same just happened to me. I literally just touched the thing and it snapped clean off at both ends #-o

I have blanked the two ends of the EGR piping off, so should I just blank off this pipe too?

What does this valve actually do?

I put a small screw in the end of the pipe.
Running absolutely fine. Only blanked on end as I couldn't get enough grunt with my piddly little 12ml spanner and can't get my ratchet in the gap! Will do it with a flexible ratchet drive next time I visit the folks....big garage, car lift and more tools, very useful having a retired mechanic for a father. :D
