Hi Techno Boffins

just noticed that the Bongo has a bit of a lean to the near side, and I think it may be getting worse, question is it dampers/shocks or springs? hav'nt had a look underneath yet as it's a bit wet here. In anticipation of all that wonderfull help that flows I thank you

Sorry couldn't resist, I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

best thing to do is get a tape measure and measure the hight of the spring on the droopy side then same on other side to see if its low on one side also you could do the old shocker test and press on the corner thats low (providing its not the rear )and see if the bongo bounces

Yeah it is the rear and it is plain to see the the near side is low, the gap in the rear wheel arches are not the same, I think when it's a drier out on the drive I'll get under and see what's going on, I'm assuming shocks/dampers

Shocks don't carry the weight, more likely to be a snapped coil on the spring http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of02.html , although I've not heard of one going on a bongo, used to go for a pastime on the Espace

Shocks (dampers really) don't support the body at all only the springs do that - so if it is low it must be a weak/broken spring.

The dampers just control the "bounce" in the springs to stop you pogoing off down the road.

Cheers guys for the input can't do anything in the present weather state so hanging on for dry and I have to get my seed potatoes into the allotment this week-end, there just ain't enough time what with having a job as well Tsk Tsk but looks like a spring then I'll start lookin round for one. I just noticed that the front heater blower is U/S this morning it seems the impeller is stuck fast and blew the 30 Amp it neaver rains etc................

It is your Bongo that has the lean & not your drive isn't it? More than once I've thought than I must have a broken spring when catching sight of my Bongo from the rear, but it's been an optical illusion due to being parked on a cross-slope. I've never really noticed it with any other vehicle. But then I'm not so paranoid about most other vehicles

Any updates on this Sparky?

Just been searching the forum for leaning related posts and come across this as I'm convinced ours has a slight lean. Not checked it parked anywhere else yet as not had chance so can't say if it's the drive or not.

Just hoping it's not suspension, as I have put off all bodywork repairs on the list until MOT day is out of the way.
