Bongo Fury

Yesterday i noticed that the rear drivers side brake sounded like it was grinding when i braked,and also when i inspected the wheel it looks like sand stuck to it though it is probably more like something burnt on it. Taking it down to local garage today to find out whats going on............could it just be the brake is worn or could it be something more serious??? Finanaces are a bit low at the moment and i dont want to leave it as it is obviously something that needs sorting but i have visions of discs and callipers and a big bill at the end of it

hi the (sand) will prob be just brake dust (normal) the brake caliper is prob seizing on or dragging, should not be expensive if you have spotted early,prob just a strip down luricate maybe new pads,
if they are a good garage they should advise doing the other rear brake at the same time,or even the fronts as well,regular service and all that.

or could just be a lump of grit jamed in the pad dont worry but better to check..

Just come back from the garage............i actually had a quote from 2 different ones. 1 said 250ish for brake pads discs and labour.....the other 200 quid tops and if the discs are ok then it wont be as much,also check the front brakes while they are at it(hope they arnt shot!!) I am going with the cheaper option as 1). i hate spending to much and 2ndly i didnt think much of the 1st bloke(seemed a bit of a nob ) Anyhow the Bongo is now off the road until friday coz i dont have enough cleared funds till then so guess i will be cycling to work for the rest of the week now and I still aint feeling better

hi sounds about right for costs for worst case,better to be safe with your baby.it never pays to cut corners in this area imo.its just a shame you dont know anyone who could take a quick look it could be a quick fix.and save all that peddling

yes it is a bit of a shame......unfortunately have had a couple of bad experiences of so called mechanics who are friends of friends and ended up with bigger bills ! Think i will get it done at garage just for piece of mind

jayne rear pads are easy to change should be able to do both sides within 1 hour

if you are going to get them done buy a garage ask them for a price if you buy your parts yourself

i used to go to formula 1 on a sunday and ask for the manager and ask them how much to fit my own parts with no reciept and you will usually find its a damn site cheaper as they put the money in their christmas pot
