This may sound like a daft question but..............

when you all go on meets and that how do you know who each other is, especially like me and David who's never been before? Don't want to be on our own not speaking to anyone, we want to meet friends.

Not a daft question at all.

If you turn up at most meets in your bongo and you are a new face then peeps will probably descend on you to find out who you are and to introduce themselves.

This has led to slight embarrasment occasionally when someone in a bongo was not actually coming to the meet but has found his/herself surrounded by a crowd of strangers apparently trying to get into their vehicle.

When at meets its also useful to put your forum name on a piece of A4 card and leave it on display inside your windscreen.

Looking forward to meeting you soon.

Some of us try to make it easy by displaying our forum names on our shirts...

....then you know who to look out for, or more importantly, who to steer clear of

If you are coming to Silverdale then you have nothing to fear - you will be made welcome and you will not be lonely (unless you choose to be).

...but seriously, Cath is right. The one time I went to Silverdale I - as usual - opted for no hook-up (I reckon to just about get by with a gas heater and lamp). There are usually plenty of non hook-up pitches and they are set away a little from the main camp (which is good if - like me - you are not good at late nights and want to retreat to a quieter spot) and in a pretty (if exposed to wind - bear that in mind!) location). We had a beaut sunset that year (click to enlarge - this was our pitch, mines the one with the DIY tailgate awning):

..must try and get up there this year, commitments permitting.

Thanks everyone, I can't wait to meet you all I've only been a member for a week but already I feel I know some of you and have been helped no end with my questions etc. I hope I don't go all shy when we actually get there  Maybe we should all wear tshirts with our usernames on like the Muzorewa's. Don't think David would like wearing a tshirt though with Mr. Thedebster62 emblazened across it somehow. What happens with the beer etc. do you have a central meeting tent/marquee where we bring our own drink.

usually a jacobs join on the friday night - everyone brings some food to put out, that way people from further away dont have to set up and then cook late on,bring your own booze to the marquee - saturday night many folks BBQ outside the marquee, much depends on the weather, then into the marquee later on.-dont worry about turning shy - i used to be shy -no one believes me now
