I think it's 1/8th BSP, but don't hold me to it

Hi
John
No...nor did I ....really strange notation a metric BSP....I thought the same as you.....but it's probably the Germans trying to take over the Automotive world.....calling it 8 mm Berlin Standard Pipe        After all, Mercedes have just admitted large-scale bribery .....well, who'd choose a Merc. ( an over-publicised legend in it's own lunchtime), when anyone knows that the best top-end cars are English and Italian 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
Lindeelu
Your'e a star... I'll go for the metric , I guess, as I am sure the data on the product I need is a mis-print , as the measured thread is 3/8" , making the part 1/8 BSP(T)...I am looking for some idea what to order for a piece of Goodrich hose to screw in the sender thread....more later!...Thanks a lot....
Cheers

Out of curiosity -- why are you replacing the oil light sender?

It's always bothered me that the oil light is the last warning light to go out on the dash when I start up the van. It's been the same for 3 1/2 years, so not a sign of impending oil pump failure/doom I assume.

That's perfectly normal :D - it won't go out until the oil pump has built up sufficient pressure to work the switch.

Hi nfn and John
Yes...I'm putting (have put) an oil gauge in...however, the diameter of most electrical senders is too large to fit in....if you feel the top of the oil sender, there is only enough gap to fit a socket spanner round it,....so...I will fit a flexible braided stainless hose in where the oil sender was, and fit the oil sender remotely from the engine, on a bracket attached somewhere on the engine....been wiring all sorts of bits in lately, and tidying gadgets I already have fitted...entailing a fuse box inside, and , later, another under the bonnet....TOO many gadgets, I'm afraid...and more to come....He He He Heh

Hi John
Not enough to cope with the number of fused add-ons I've wired in....       .....just wait 'till I get the roof-mounted eyeball fryers wired in........I just HATE people who are too lazy or too drunk to dip headlights...500watts or more should burn a nice hole all the way through to the back of their skull

By heck, you'll need some big fuses (and wire) for that
Can you get 12v bulbs of that power, or are you using an inverter? I quite like the idea of 2x500w halogen security lights fitted to the roof, not for road use of course [-X
