N- sensor

each morning when i set off, after almost exactly the same distance covered, the rpm counter drops to zero ,and the hold light flashes, if i,m in top gear at the time , it drops down a gear , this will go on for about a mile ,then the speedo works and the hold light stops , but most often it does NOT go back into top gear.

yes its gone far enough for the temp to allow it to get into top, as it was before the event starts, to get it into top after its done this ,i have to drop the speed right down, then let it go back up through the gears, when it will then go it top,

for the rest of the day ,even with 6-7 hours stopped ,it works ok ,but in the mornings ,here we go again !!!

changed gearbox oil, including removing the sump and cleaning filter, but this made no change.

now i,ve read somewhere on here that this can sometimes related to the N- sensor, quite what this sensor does ,or where it is , i don,t know, although the wonderful "miss fixit " may have a photo of this ,she seems to have photos for most things bongo ?????

if i should need a new n-sensor ,where could i get one ?????

any help would be greatly appreciated,

Crikey - I don't recall hearing of the N-sensor on here. Alacrity is becoming the resident BF gearbox guru - maybe he can comment. Alternatively Dandywarhol is hot on all things mechanical, and Kirsty can probably recall most things about most things! :?

Sorry, that's another one I've not got a piccy for  Can't help on that one. Have you tried getting a fault code using the hold light diagnostics described in the factsheets? (bear in mind the password has just changed for the month)

N sensor is 20H 10 here http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... o=.html#16

Also called a pulse sensor telling the ECU crank speed

Crank sensor (pulse generator) then basically, that makes sense. Any idea why it's called an N sensor?

On the wiring diagrams its down as NE sensor which translated came out as Engine Rev. sensor

At least that should be all the options covered on this thread now for the search function to pick up
