Ok so i will soon have a PMS3H and was thinking about the battery charger part of it.
I am asuming it goes straight to the LB and then monitors the LB
Then i thought, if it goes to the main battery it will charge that first and then the split charge relay will activate and charge the LB. The monitor will then only do the main though?
Which of my assumptions is right, BTW i am leaning towards the former.

I think on the PMS3 you can select Car | Off | Van for which to charge from the front panel, but Madmile has direct experience of fitting the units. Its possible that if you have it on Car then the VSR will operate, but it will depend on the voltage output of the charger it might not go high enough to cause the VSR to operate.

If it doesn't have the facility to charge the SB, then surely it'd be easy enough to fit a change over switch to charge the SB rather than the LB? If it's ever necessary?

Tony - if you have a VSR set up then it will work both ways.
On hook up if you select 'van' (ie leisure) battery, then that will charge. If however, you elect to charge the car battery then the VSR just assumes the engine is running and splits the charge to the leisure battery.
The only downside to this is if both batteries are low then as the trigger voltage is reached, the low voltage of the LB drags down the voltage of the car battery and the relay switches off.....this can cycle on and off for quite a while, but in reality it will not be a situation that you encounter unless both batteries are left for a while. If the vehicle battery is OK (which it should be if you drive regularly) then you will most likely only want to charge the LB, particularly if you have switched most of the ancillaries to run from it.
If you do find yourself camping with a slightly duff car battery, then just pop it onto 'car' on the charger once the leisure battery is topped up.
