also is it just a thin bit of tin needed got some gas fire colsure tin ??

I just used a 2p coin between the pipe and manifold in your second picture. Somebody else used a bi-metal(like a £1 coin) foreign coin, but it disintegrated and cost a fortune to put right

found some stainless and made a plate for the front one,but back palte bolds real tight and was worried that they would sheer off!
whatcould happen by only doint the front one??

Should be ok if there are no leaks in the pipe/valve or at any of the welds. Fitting 2 plates is just belt & braces really, or if you know there's a leak in the system (leak to atmosphere rather than leaking through the valve)

ahh great, just worried about those tight nuts may get garage to do the job when i have a service soon..
