Bongo Fury

I have just given the Freda a really good clean and t-cut (post lava) and I have noticed that the rear wiper blade rubber has perished. Is it a straightforward job to find a new wiper blade? I went to Halfords and couldn't see a compatible one, and the level of help in there was really poor. Where do they get these assistants from? Probably best not to answer that!

I fitted the Tesco 'aero' ones all round. Rear one is a disappointment TBH - possibly because the glass is so flat. No pressure in the middle, so it leaves a dirty bit on the middle of the sweep. I need to give it a wee heat with the hot air gun when it gets to the top of the tuit list.

(Oh, and the front ones don't lock in place unless they are the 'wrong' way round! Looks like they are designed for LHD wiper sweep.)

If you look at the (almost indeciperable) instructions you will see that the "way round" can be swapped so the sweep of the spoiler bit goes the right way.

I did that, but the 'block' bits don't 'click' into place on the wipers that way round. My son's mate swapped his round this way, and they fell off in use (he's a muppet though!). Mine have stayed on so far, but adding a wee blob of glue to make sure is on my tuit list.

Mine seem to have stayed on OK. You do have to push really hard to make them click.

Just done a wee bit of googling, like you do.

Seems that there are 4 ways to proceed here:

1. Fit them 'backwards', so the spoiler is not doing anything.
2. Turn the whole wiper and 'block' through 180°, and remove the wee curved cover to allow the arm to come in from the other side.
3. Fit the block to the arm as designed, and spin the wiper through 180° - the block doesn't click in place without a wee bit of modification (or glue!)
4. Fit the block and wiper carrier as dictated by the arm direction, and spin the aero / spoiler section only through 180°.

I've currently got them fitted using method 3, but I'll be investigating option 4 when I get home.

I've had no problems with WIPAC wipers, 16 inch part number WX16. They cost £1.49 from trago mills newton abbott.

I usually get spares at that price, If your passing stansted airport you can have this one.

I'm off down to my old stamping ground (Devon) in June ( 1st Week ) and if you want I'll get you a full set of wiper blades.

I generally use the A303 and we can meet up at the cartgate service area.

try the new "AERO " blades on ebay , £4 for rear , £7 for two fronts, i have them and they fit really easy and perform really well, no squeeking ,juddering , just a quite clean sweep

provided you have the standard "hooked arms " take no notice when it names a car , as they are all the same, so if it says 14" for aston martin, or rover whatever ,ignore that and just get the size right, and you,ll be ok
