'All Scotland' meet?
'All Scotland' meet?
Just thought I would throw this one into the pot and see if anybody fancies it....
With the Scottish bash down in the South of Scotland this year, (which for us is fine but for some of the guys further North is a long way), and day meets in either North or South a big ask to travel to, if you live a couple of hundred miles away. I wondered if anybody would be up for a meet / overnight stay in the middle of Scotland (Glen Coe, Loch Ranoch for example).... say tale end of summer September time ish..... We tend to prefer less commercial camp sites generally, (with a bit of walking or biking near by, and a pub near ), which we find works for us if only a couple of nights.
Any one fancy that in principal?
All the best
David.

Clachaig car park is good for for a bit wild camping with a pub in staggering distance.
Or red squirred if you need amenities!

Agreed.... If I can get an idea of the potential uptake... then work out whether a 'wild camp' or a 'fairly basic' site would be best
Re: 'All Scotland' meet?
If I'm onshore at the time, and not at a music festival then I'm in. Wild, basic or posh.
Any dates in mind?

Weekends of either 11th or 18th September
Re: 'All Scotland' meet?
Defo not here on the 11th, offshore
Still undecided if I'm going to Loopalu festival, probably will be. 18th / 19th Sept.

By the Clachaig car park I assume that you mean the National Trust car park off the A82 and not the Clachaig Inn car park which only took 10 to 12 cars when I was last there.
I would prefer to make this into a weekend then go to the agreed meeting place on the day. My prefered overnight stop would be off the Old Glencoe Road outside the Kingshouse Hotel where we camped out in January 2009 with the alternative being near to the Inveroran Hotel off the Old Glencoe Road at Bridge of Orchy.

Fingers crossed I could make it as a day trip.

muffins ..........
Joking aside...thought it might be good to try a meet where the gang from 'the North' and 'the South' can both attend (as well as anybody who feels so inclined from further afield as well of course)
Re: 'All Scotland' meet?
Rough camping in Glencoe sounds fine to me. Somewhere near the pub sounds fine too. I can do the weekend of 25th Sep or the following weekend of 2nd Oct. The 18th Sep may be difficult due to work commitments.

Tony, the Clachaig now has a lower car park surrounded by trees and not just the main tarmac car park directly at the entrance. Fair point though as it can sometimes be busy.

Re: 'All Scotland' meet?
If we get potential numbers then maybe we could contact the Clachaig or the Kinghouse and ask them if we could stay in their carpark overnight. If they see the potential extra business as a plus then they may welcome it.

My Birthday is on 22nd Spetember too! I would like to put forward a motion to have this get together on Saturday 25th September 2010. Is that date suitable for everyone?
