Port Mor was a good place - a bit out of the village but a good community centre cafe on site - great views but wind can be a pest. I've heard Kintra is nice - but again a bit out of town but right on the sand dunes

Ask Hatris, they stayed at the Port Mòr centre in Port Charlotte last year. You can book in advance and they have electric.
We booked there for our trip last year but never made it to Port Charlotte, we got as far as the top of Loch Indaal and couldn't resist the urge to stay here, particularly as it was free....

We stayed at Port Mor. The site is a sort of sports pitch. Bring a good torch.
This building is the cafe and the showers and loos and laundry.
You cannot walk to the village. We saw seals there and were told to eat at the Port Charlotte Hotel, very overpriced and dissappointing.

Thanks for the replies, I will check these out. Dont really need to eat out but a friendly pub close to, where i can take the children would be good. Looks a bit bad sat outside the van on my own when the children are asleep with a couple of cans of guinness.
