In my opinion, vented discs are more important on the front brakes, as they cool down better - rear brakes don't work so hard. However, as the vented ones are cheaper and both firms have a good reputation----- I'd try and get branded pads though 8)

Are they not both vented, just that AVA haven't bothered to say so?

would you not recommend the pads on these sites then?

full set of pads and discs for rear comes to 79.95 on AVA with free postage

full discs and pads on on bongo bits comes to 84.95 (because of postage)

what are your opinions on these??

nice and cheap but is it worth the risk??

I'm sure they'll do the job, unless you did a comparative analysis it's difficult to say, but is going by the fact that they're the cheapest the best way to source such a vital component? Of course it could be that the more expensive parts are the same parts as the cheaper ones, but at a more inflated price.
Someone a while back put some pics up of some cheaper discs they'd bought & there was some very iffy machining used to balance them, not sure where they were from though, so doesn't really help you too much.
My preference is for decent pads, I've fitted EBC's on the back & will be fitting them on the front, defintely superior to the apec sh*te that was on there, can't tell yet whether they give off less dust or not & not expensive if you look on ebay.

Thanks Kirsty, do you have a model number for the ebc pads, had a look on thier site and bongo is not listed (surprise), or which other standard car takes the same ones?
I have no technical knowledge so wouldn't know how to find an equiv fit.

EBC Ultimax Front - DP1121, Rear DP - 740, I think that's right, look on ebay - http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... Categories make sure it's the 95 -03 ones. EBCdirect got incredibly confused took about a week of emails before they'd agree they were the right ones, there had been none listed on ebay up until then, now there are loads for the bongo. May be worth seing it they do EBC green for the bongo, they're supposed to be less dust IIRC.

Thank you.
found some for £26.95 inc vat from www.camskill.co.uk, now if I could find out if they sell the discs we need!!
trouble is I am on a really tight budget so almost £10 for postage from each site is a bit much, would prefer to be able to buy both bits from 1 site. other trouble is am also on a tight schedule as we are going away nxt thur and will be ending up in wales, brakes are diabolical at min and have to be done b4 we go away.

cheers guys, think I will go for the mazda bongo shop, as they are really auto jap spares and I'm sure I have heard them mentioned well on here before (some1 will correct me if I am wrong on that). will order in morning depending on how quick theey can get them out to me.

I will upgrade the pads in a couple of weeks when cash flow is better.
