TM2 alarm - weird readings?

Hi

Haydn fitted my TM2 alarm in September 09 and it's been working fine so far. Today on a short journey, whilst the alarm readings seemed to be working OK - the 2 second flashing thingy - the alarm came on, flashed up 106 for 2 seconds with the "High Temp" light on, then alarm off, light off and went back to the normal 2 second flashing thingy at the usual temp. Didn't travel far and engine didn't warm up to usual temp.

Then a couple of times I noticed that the readout said 001? Before going back to the usual flashing thingy. God I'm so technical! :?

The header tank level appears to be OK and hasn't changed.

Could this perhaps be a loose connection for the temp gauge?

The mechanic has been doing some work recently (last week and the week before) but it hasn't done this until today (when I was in a hurry, of course). But then I've been cycling to work in the week. I went on a 15 mile round trip on Saturday and it seemed to be fine. The work done was related to the water pump, exhaust manifold gasket and fan belts.

Can anyone help please and point me in a direction? [-o<

Have you got in touch with Haydn? I am pretty sure he will be more than happy to help you out with any problems, and I reckon he will be the subject matter expert on these :)

Good luck

Thanks, I've PM'd Haydn but wondered if anyone else had come across this.

all I can suggest is to go back to maker/agent for support

Did the mechanic bleed it as per instructions if he's fitted/worked on the waterpump? why was this necessary?

Hi Kirsty - It went in because of a squealing noise that was getting worse. Bongo people have advised me that this sounded like the water pump so when I booked the bongo in, I mentioned the squealing and that it had been suggested to me that it might be the water pump. However, person I spoke to on the phone wrote down "water pump?" in the book. The mechanic who worked on it saw that, looked at water pump, saw it was leaking (he says) and replaced it. Lot of who ha later because the bongo was still squealing, but that's another story - I hope! Bongo went back and mechanic said it was, in fact, the exhaust manifold gasket that was causing the problem, and I needed 2 fan belts. Squealing has now stopped and I'm a lot poorer!

I hope he did what he was supposed to do (bleeding) as he's the mechanic and I'm not! Sounds pathetic I know but I don't know anything about engines and have to trust the mechanic. He is usually excellent and because of all this hoo haa i got a free MOT out of it. There's more story than this but you get the gist.

The water level in the header tank hasn't changed since I got the bongo back - if this is any help.

Look forward to hearing from you ...
