Air con leaking

Tried to have the aircon refilled yesterday but the garage test showed that the system is leaking.
I looked at lots of aircon posts but cannot find anything that might help. Anyone got any suggestions about what to look for?

Ideally the garage should put UV dye in the system to show up the leak... then replace the bit with the hole in or replace the seals.
I had mine regassed this week and they put the dye in incase there was as leak.

Came up a few days ago, a few people have used the stuff from Halfords that has leak sealer in
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... n&start=30 I'd suspect your seals are dry as I seem to remember you saying you never used it?

I still have a gauge and 1/2 can EZ-chill...... happy for you to use it.... I am away as of Saturday Morning for the week but I am traveling North one day on the week commencing 7th June....... I could call by on my way back home...and spend 10 minutes trying it out if you want.....

Thanks for the info, and the offer Mike. I just wanted to see if anyone could identify a particular weakness. I'm very satisfied with BCI in Melton who reported this when servicing earlier in the week. I've booked it in on June 8th for a full investigation at the same time as they are going to waxoil and underseal which will be done overnight in their MOT bay. Incidentally I've been quoted 2 hours labour + materials for the undersealing which I think is pretty good.

We have a gas sniffer at work that you wave over all the pipework etc. & it beeps if it finds a leak, I would have thought aircon specialists (which I certainly am NOT!) would have something similar. Unless it is old hat now of course, as I say I'm no expert.
Some of my work colleagues have great fun with it sniffing other forms of, shall we say, less desirable, postern gases!
