Roof question?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask a question about the roof but mine seems to be coming apart. I have an AFT and when you open the roof it looks like the aluminum frame is coming away from the roof top. It is difficult to describe and a piccie would be best but don;t know how to add one of those. Anyway the ali frame holds the tented bit which then is screwed into a plactic frame thing in the roof. It looks like the screws in the ali frame are pulling out plastic plugs from within the plastic frame. Not sure if they can just be glued back in or what but they do seem to take a bit of strain so might be better to replace the scres with nuts and bolts, say. What do ya reckon?

I did exactly that with mine last weekend. Just make sure you have timbers and braces to hold the frame in place while the araldite sets. I used a peice of wire which I bent hte end of so I could get a blob of glue in the hole and move it around so it didn't get where it shouldn't. I didn't manage to get the frame fully back flush at teh front as the tent straps (you'll see them outside the tenting) held the frame back from going flat against the roff. If you lower the roof slightly that would do it. But my glue was already mixed and in place so I sussed that too late. Also, even though I just had time to lower the roof a tad and try that, the attempt to brace the frame in place just pushed the roof back up. Its as though you need something restraiing the roof. You'll see what I mean when you try it I think. I found getting the screws out was impossible - you'll just strip the heads, so just had to pull out the loose plastic inserts and work as best I could.

Thanks. I'll give it a go over the weekend - assuming it isn't lashing it down as it normall does on a bank holiday.

BTW off for my first night in it with my young son tomorrow - down to Bovington Tank Museum. Have bought a drive away awning so it won't be too rough.

Mike is rapidly becoming our Roof Problem champion after his recent debacle.

Yet another feather in his overloaded cap.
