Looks like my head gasket has gone - advice please

Hello all,
Had my Bongo since mid April and have to say have not been enjoying the experience so far. After about a week I found a small leak on the bleed pipe. I took it to a (supposedly) Bongo friendly garage where they replaced the Bleed pipe with one I got from JAS, flushed out the coolant, replaced coolant and bled system.
Bongo seemed to be working fine and I installed one of Haydns coolant alarms as a precaution in case of further leaks.
Did a few short journeys with no probs, then a couple of weeks ago after about 50 miles (and thankfully nearly back home) the coolant light started to come off and on and get brighter and dimmer. Knowing this shouldnt be happening I pulled over and saw that the expansion tank was gurgling. After it had cooled, I checked the level and no coolant had been lost so drove the last couple of miles home cautiously.
I then phoned another Bongo Friendly mechanic who came to visit me with a kit to test for exhaust gases in the coolant. During the test it took about 15 mins for the indicator fluid to change and I was told that this means that the gasket is on its way out. Therefore the Bongo is off the road now til I get it sorted.
Has anybody got any advice??? Can the gasket be the cause of the gurgling in the expansion tank, or is it a symptom of another problem?
I will get the head checked for cracks when it is off and replace if necessary, I guess I will have to get the rad checked, and I have a new Gen Mazda thermostat ready to be fitted, but is there anything else I need to consider?
The head gasket is covered by the warranty I was given when I bought the vehicle but a cracked head isn't - so looks like it will either cost me £0 or £1500 depending on what is found. If its the latter I guess I will have to consider getting legal advice about whether the vehicle was fit for purpose when I purchased it (Ive done less than 200 miles).
There seems to be a lot of horror stories on here about people getting cracked heads replaced only for the vans to overheat again destroying the new head - Advice welcomed on how I can avoid this happening to me...
Cheers
