2,5l diesel 96 wl-t i think ??

every so often my rev counter drops to zero, then alittle later the hold light will come on.

i suspect that the problem is the rpm speed sensor

but where is it on the vehicle ????

and where can i get a new sensor ???

i,ve checked the connections around the gearbox, but all seems ok

i,m in a hurry got to get to the "bongo bash "

If the odometer is still in kms then it isn't chipped I don't think, it'll just be a stick on face. Is the hold light flashing when it comes on? if so you may be able to use the diagnostics in the factsheets to get a fault code? or try some searches, there's something out of reach of my memory ATM that may be the answer.
This may help with the speed sensor http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... or#p330699

missfixit ,yes the hold light comes on a second or two after the rev counter goes down, (its always the rev counter down first )sometimes it changes down a gear as well,

the mark/space ratio of the hold light flashes one second on,one second off, does that say anything ?????

its my local bongo specialist that suggests it may be the speed sensor, but he,s just gone to hospital and he can,t help from there ???

The hold only flashes 1 on 1 off, you have to follow the diagnostic factsheet to get the fault code, it's not difficult, sounds like it's dropping into limp mode, get it checked asap, but sounds like it may be the sensor.

sensor is located under drivers seat at front of engine, follow wiring to it, is 2 wires in front/below fuel pump, and when sensor starts to fail its uasually when it gets warm and the hold light will come on as the car uses speed and revs to select appropriate gear.
