Hi just got a bongo for the first time last week, all good BUT bad smells coming from the air con, have used some disinfectant spray through the air intake but no real joy. How do I get to the evaporator and does it have a filter anywhere?? Can then give it a proper clean!!!!
Any help and guidance would be fantastic
Cheers

Just leave it on for a good while, to dry everything out, and use it regularly thereafter. The pong is mainly due to bacteria, which are killed by the dry air when using it. It was a regular complaint from customers who didn't read their manuals and use their aircon regularly

I used Comma Air con cleaner spray (you let it fumigate the whole car with the aircon switched to "re-circulate" and it kills all the bugs. Seems to work well. Good reviews too.

Disinfectant spray etc. used to knock mine back but only for a while. What finally seems to have removed it permanently is stripping down the front heater duct and carefully picking all the black stuff out of the heater matrix fins. Much better airflow now too.

This shows the ducting under the bonnet -

This factsheet tells/shows how to access the evap matrix,
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... repair.pdf worth stripping it to clean it out, doesn't take long. check the hole in the bottom of the fan motor casing isn't blocked up with crud either, worth opening it up to about 10mm, allows crud & water to drop through & so the motor doesn't get wet & seize up.
