Bongo Fury

spent the last month getting kit for the first outing in the bongo ,which was to be the bongo bash, went out friday evening to fill up with diesel, mason alarm went crazy , temp gauge at "H" and some , and 4 miles from home , so stopped for ages to let it cool off , then slowly nursed her back home

saturday took her gently to my favourite bongo garage, they bled her ,but no, temp still driving the mason crazy
now looks like a cracked cylinder head.

so , can,t go to the bash ,and i was really looking forward to that .
lost my bash deposit as its too late to cancel

will probably cost about £1500 for new head

putting it all together i am so *&%$&* off , i could well i just don,t know

will someone please take lots of pictures, i need to see what i missed

can you go in another car? you will get lost of sympathyand still enjoy it

wata bumer,may not be the bad outcome you think though,any other symptoms,have you pressure tested the system?? it may not show a cracked head,but it may show where a possible water loss is.i would check everything else before ripping the head off.
bleeding up a leaking system is like *iss*ng in the wi*d in my opinion.did the garage bleed the system to completion,ie get the stat to open and the bottom hose HOT.

Even worse case scenario, its still possible to get it fixed up before the Bash.

When I first bought mine the head went the same day. Came home the last 200 miles on an RAC truck but local garage took it in on a tuesday evening & had it back on the road the following afternoon.

All is not yet lost.

As written on here previously we had the same thing happen. TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASE STUCK DOWN IN DEVON ON OUR FIRST HOLIDAY. Cost a fortune and was off the road for at least 4 weeks and counting. Then Gasket let go and again it was off the road and ensued a wrangle over who pays for what as it was just in warranty. Nice trip on the back of a flat bed to Reading from Devon and then on to Kent.

Anyway these things ARE SENT TO TRY US and we have come through the other side and are still bumbling along here there and everywhere in our BING BONGO. So look on the bright side when the debt is paid off it should see you out for a long time. FINGERS CROSSED OF COURSE.

Everytime something goes pear shaped & is replaced, its one less headache you're likely to get in the next ten years as long as its fixed competently with the best parts available.

Its rather like buying yourself a new car in installments.

thanks peeps , but everything has been done that can be done ,looks like worst case scenario

the biggest bummer is missing the bash , been really looking forward to that since i bought "ezmerelda" last sept

yes i could get there in a car ,but just would,nt be the same without her !!!!

and there other meets later ,yes i know not "the big one " so theres something positive to think about
