I think you will find most Bongos have this on the front/drivers side of the engine....It is not a oil leak....most seem to think it is "crud" from the EGR system (exaust gas recycling) ...harmless

Thanks for that Haydn, hence all the discussions on EGR blanking plates?

Is that fuel or water?

If its fuel possibilities.
1 the small flexible hose on the fuel return behind the manifold is leaking.
2. An injector connection on the pump is leaking when cold.
3. The pump seals are leaking when cold.

Neither, gunk from EGR :D

If it is crud from the EGR then it must be leaking from somewhere, that would mean the inlet manifold is leaking and you would be able to see where and possibly hear it.

My bet ( £1 no more) is the rear seal on the pump spraying fuel when you put your foot down.

Do you smell diesel when static in traffic?

No smell of diesel, and no tell tale whistle/hiss when I accelerate hard, so I am pretty sure its not the inlet manifold :) ............I am inclined to agree with Haydn, as it has got no worse (noticeably)in the last year...£1 payable by paypal if you like!
