Sliding door won't open?

Central locking seems to be working fine, button pops up etc and door can be opened manually from the inside...However you cannot open the door from the outside.. Is this a problem with the mechanisim or is the actual handle broken in some way? How do you fix this?. ....Please help!!

Usually needs a carefully placed thump from the inside.

A good thump low down on the inside of the door ,about central position usually does it.
if not carefully prise the door card off and the mechanism is in the same position where you thump.
