Towbar electrics

I've fitted a towbar to a Ford Freda and am faced with the cable from the towbar, a little piezo sounder with half a dozen wires, and the right hand side panel removed...

There's what looks like a relay with two plugs going into it. One with four large wires and another with about two dozen small wires. From the latter another 5 core cable peels off to be converted into a 4+4 cable for the rear right hand light pod.

Now I'm wondering if in the remaining bundle of wires (which seems to be on its way above the tailgate over to the other side) I might find wires for the left hand light pod, i.e. in order to get all I need without running another cable over to the other side.

I guess there's nothing like testing my theory, but I thought someone here might tell me if it's a good theory.

I am supposing that some of the two dozen signal wires come from the controls at the front of the vehicle, which are then converted/shared by the relay to power wires for the lights (intermittent for indicators).

Ah, the box says "Lift roof", so I guess it's a red herring. Moreover, all the lights operate without it plugged in, so it rules that out.

Maybe there is no left hand set of wires also available on the right? Do they really split at the front and then branch either side of the vehicle all the way to the back? :-(

Looks like it - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of03.html I don't remember it being a problem to run a wire across behind the bumper

Thanks missfixit70. I am now running a small two core wire across for left hand tail and left hand turn. I presume I don't need to also pass the ground across. For that matter I dunno why I have to pass the left hand tail across (maybe there's a switch to make the tail lights operate as indicators or o/s only for parking?). Maybe there's a sensor for a faulty tail bulb? I've done it anyway.

I just saw oodles of wires and figured maybe left and right split at the back rather than the front. No worries.

Running seperate wires for the side/tail lights isnt necessary, as they run off a single fuse.
No need to run a ground, towbar yellow to buzzer yellow, towbar green to buzzer green, buzzer orange to vehicle left indicator (GREEN/BLACK), buzzer grey to right indicator (GREEN/WHITE), buzzer ground (can be black or white depending on brand to to either towbar white/vehicle ground, so towbar white to vehicle ground (BLACK), towbar black and brown to vehicle tail lights (RED/BLACK),towbar blue to vehicle foglight, towbar red to vehicle brake lights (GREEN/YELLOW).
**NOTE** These wire colours are found on the vehicle side of the rear light connectors
