Can anyone tell me .. missing EGR hose

Hi,
Thanks to the posters here, In have just had a successful morning blanking off my EGR, using the plates sent by Allans Vehicle Services and re this helpful thread:
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... r+blanking

I do have a question: When I was replacing the plugs during the winter, I split a hose at the back of the gubbins on top of the engine and furthermost to the front of the engine, which seem to be associated with the EGR, although I am not knowledgeable enough to know for sure. Every time I tried to repair it, it split more, I sort of bodged a hose, which has not really worked, it went flat. I have now removed it, as it cant have been doing its job anyway.

Can anyone tell me if this matters at all, given that I have blanked off the EGR?

I have recently had stalling / starting problems, which after the work this morning may have been resolved, although further testing is needed to verify

Yup it matters, it supplies vacuum to the front two solenoids which controls the cold start fast idle & the fast idle when you switch the ac on - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of02.html - which is why you'll have had starting/stalling problems I suspect.
The rear two solenoids can be disconnected from the vacuum supply, make sure you blank the hose that supplies them once you've reinstated the supply hose.

Thank you for your speedy reply.

I cant quite identify the hose from diagram, could you let me know what the part number is so that I can get hold of a new one?

93-5104, any decent thick walled vacuum hose of the right size from a motor factor should do it though. be careful with the solenoid stubs, they can get a bit iffy. You may find that the forward solenoid of the two doesn't work (you can test it by applying 12v & trying to blow through, you should feel the resistance to airflow as it opens & closes as the voltage is apllied & removed) if this is the case, you can either swap the second one in to the first position (this one seems to do the most work & therefore seems to be non functioning more often than not), or you could use one of the egr ones with a bit of adaptation if they still work.

Fantastic, thank you for your help. I have just phoned a local shop and they might have some hose to match.

Yes that’s great, thank you for your help.

I fitted the hose and taken for a test run.
My bong is back to normal !!
No threatening to stall at junctions.
And it springs into life on what seems to be virtually first crank of the engine.
