Aircon gone!

Bugger.

Got in the Bongo on Friday to go home & it appears to have leaked it's gas out whilst standing. Any common places for leaks? I can top it up again but there isn't much point if it is just going to leak out again.
Finally fitted the Mason & took it on it's 1st decent run since. Boy does it take some getting used to! It seems to run about 1 o'clock generally going up 2 o'clock when going uphill. I checked the temp with a laser thermometer on the rad top hose when I got back & it was reading a lovely 78 deg. I have to admit I was concerned as I thought the consensus here was that they generally run around 12 o'clock, rising when pushing it & mine seemed to be higher. However since checking it with the thermometer I am happy again.

Check the knuckles where the pipes turn up into the rear aircon unit. They are exposed under the van and can get corroded easily.

Aircon rad is also prone to stone damage, as it's in front of the cooling rad.
I just had my Mason alarm fitted (thanks DBO and Kawasaki Kid

) and mine seems to run around the 1 o'clock mark - maybe just a shade under, but definitely past 12 o'clock.

Found it!! AC compressor belt had broken. We fitted a new one about 4 months ago & it seems that somehow it twisted on itself & had been running 'upside down'. Of cause it failed prematurely.
Glad to hear someone else's temp gauge runs in the same place. So far the alarm has only gone off when the car has been hot & switched off for only a short while. When you re-start it chirps for about 30 sec then stops. I am towing from Eastbourne to Cardiff in a weeks time so we shall see what that does.
Thanks for the suggestions everybody.

The position of the mason modified temp gauge can be different depending on all sorts of factors, as you've alread checked, best idea is to check with a temp gauge. Worth spending half an hour getting it up to temp on the driveway & comparing actual temps to the modified gauge up to fan kick in point.

You can buy a aircon sealant and the gas from halfords, prob about £50. My mason sits at 1130-1200 and only goes up to 1300 when going up long hills.
