Split Charging

Evening all, I wonder if there is something how could spell out the basics of split charging.

The dealer we purchased our Bongo from mentioned that there was a leisure battery and split charger fitted to our Bongo along with 240v hook up.

There is a Zig Marquee 1 control panel inside the Bongo with switches for selecting the car or camper battery (I presume). I have checked the 240v hook up at home via a connector to 13amp socket and the socket in the camper works.

The question I have is what should be charging what? I understand that as I drive the car and leisure batterys should be charging? When on site what battery is being charged by the hook up if any?

If the car was selected would this allow the use of the stereo and blinds without draining the battery as it would be charging? If selecting the leisure battery would this be similar without the use of the stereo or blind as these are currently connected to the car battery?

Any help/guidance is apprecaited.

The zig marque 1 is just a switch panel and battery meter, so no charging on 240v.
If there is a split charge relay fitted, then your leisure battery will charge whilst driving, but depending on what is wired to it, its difficult to give any further advice.
If the dealer who you bought it from was the converter then I would ask them how things are wired as there are so many variables with the blinds, radio and interior lights.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have done some surfing and note that for the setup to charge the batteries (car or leisure) then a charging system x70 or x80 would need to have been installed?

The dealer isnt worth asking as more knowledge seems to be available online here.

I will investige from the ZIG unit and report back therefore someone may be able to advise on what setup I may have.
