Newbie questions on fitting coolant system alarms

Ive just come back from a two week trip in the bongo, and glad to say no issues. However, after reading some of the horror stories on these forums, I am keen to get some sort of alarm for the coolant system.
I am thinking of getting a low coolant alarm and a TM-2/or the Bongo Gauge Mod. After reading the factsheet on the coolant alarms I am slightly confused on a few things and hope someone can help.

1. One of the cons of a low coolant alarm is:

1) If you have a leisure battery fitted, it will have to be removed (then replaced) to be able to fit the sensor in the tank.

What does this mean. Does it mean, i need a different leisure battery, or does it mean, take out, do the install and then put back in?

2. Where would I buy a TM-2 temperature guage from?

3. Where are the Bongo Gauge Mod details that are mentioned in the factsheet?

4. I like the idea of fitting a mason alarm, how difficult a job is it?

Eyup~taking the leisure battery out is to gain access to header tank so it can be drilled to insert probe in~it's not possible to drill probe/hole with battery in~when finished reconnect same battery.

Coolant alarm's are obtainable from Hadyn Callow (look in members area) & he's got a choice of different models.

Check out the ESTC review on the factsheets. This shows photos of the coolant probe fitting on the header tank and also the location of the probe for the temperature alarm. The ESTC is a combination of the coolant alarn and temperature alarm in one, simple package, which is why I went for it.

i have a coolant alarm , came with the van, its attached with a double lighter socket. Anyone know what make/model this is?

Sounds like Haydn Callow's low coolant alarm mk3? don't think it's produced anymore, could be wrong though.

If it plugs in the ciggy socket and also provides 2 x extra sockets then as Kirsty points out ...that is a Mk 3 Low coolant alarm....only about 10 were produced so you have a rare one there and avid Low Coolant Alarm collectors will be offering you huge amounts of "dosh" for it..
I would hang on to it and pass it on to the grandchildren to put in their Bongo....

yeh it goes in the cig socket and provides 2 cig sockets , very useful for satnav and phone lol

1st morning after I bought the van, I turned the key and the alarm went off (ears bled !!) I was panicking!!

rang the previous owner who was concerned until he asked was i parked on a hill !

Shouldn't go off even on a hill....put a bit more coolant in....that should shut it up.

I'm new to the Bongo world aswell and was wondering is the v6 prone to cooling problems too and would people recommend an alarm for that?

I now run a V6 and have fitted temp and low coolant alarms......the hoses etc are the same "old" age as any other Bongo so these things can and do happen
