Is that even the right term!? Hi all. Sorry if this has been covered many times, I don't even know the correct terms to search for.
Anyway, (typing with some trepidation) since being sorted at Discount Trucks - my V6 has been running perfectly. (touch wood touch wood!)
However I was wondering if anyone could advise on whether their cooling fans run on the engine when the ignition is off? The fans on my last car would run for ages if the engine was very warm, even after I was well into the house and having a cup of tea! The Bongo is a different story - the fans only run when the ignition is on. They also click on and off with tremendous frequency.... maybe this is fine . . just wondered what other folks experience was...
Looking forward to your wise words and thanks for reading.
Cheers

Well my V6 has one fan in engine bay which cuts in and out when required, never heard it running on after ignition was off. There is a roar of fans noise though when the climate control is on, this is seperate to the engine cooling system. Again this only come on with Aircon/Climate Control and would not run on when engine is off. Hope this helps?

If you've got the ac on the rad fans will switch on & off frequently as the ac compressor loads & unloads, if the ac isn't on, I wouldn't think they should be clicking in & out like that TBH.

check air con is off as kirsty says.
if off, whats it had done at the garage, could be airlocked in the head/s next to the fan switch
causing a hot spot that the fans are trying to cool.
i would suggest you bleed it,is it loosing coolant, any coolant leaks.

The radiator fans only run when the Ignition is on and are then controlled by the ECU and A/C, the scavenger fan is not directly controlled by the Ignition only by the ECU and so could run on after the engine is turned off, but this only seems to come on when the engine is very hot anyway.

Thanks for your thoughts . . .yes the air con is usually on so that is probably the fans clicking on and off. Hopefully! I doubt an airlock as the engine has been bled more times than I have had hot dinners! Going in for a service soon so will mention it to Fred then.
Thanks all!

Or just try turning the ac off & see if it still happens?
