Oil top up

Post by dvisor » Sun Aug 15, 2010 12:38 pm

This is a "roll your eyes in despair" moment for the techies. I want to take a small bottle of motor oil with me, just to top up if necessary. When I checked with the guy who last serviced the vehicle (diesel), he told be to use 15W-40 semi-synthetic. I've got some Quantum SL Multigrade Advanced 15W-40 which I use for my other car, but I thinkthis is mineral, not semi-synth. Would it do any harm to use it for top ups?

when you next change the oil, which i would recomend be before the cold weather, use 5w30 semi synthetic.
it will protect better on the initial start up. thinner.and the correct oil for your diesel!! omo.
