Nut size - rear flip up seat mountings

				Hi,
Despite taking the nut below to 3 DIY stores/ironmongers I've been unable to get a replacement (M8,10 etc no good - the threads seem different). There are 3 missing on my Bongo. Any idea where these can be sourced and what size they are?
Thanks.

without checking I would hazard a guess that they are M8 x1.25 flange nuts.....
If I remember correctly they are a 13mm socket to fit them
59p each here

Pretty sure it's a metric fine thread, most screwfix/eurofastener type suppliers to be found on most industrial estates should be able to match it, you may have to make do with a standard nut & washer rather than a shouldered nut.
May be worth asking the guys in the breaking bongos section?

Ahh, didn't realise that you could get fine threads. I would have thought a specialist ironmonger could have suggested that when I told him it was the wrong thread size for standard nuts. I've ordered some M8 fine pitch based on the socket size. Will keep my fingers crossed they are not M10s.
Thanks to you both.

14mm socket on mine, seats used to be in & out quite regular & I had a 14mm socket & ratchet permanently in the side pocket

useful ...err... thread. Sort of lacking a definitive conclusion. tallbongo: did the M8 metric nut fit?
I want to replace the standard nuts with wingnuts or some kind of lobed knob (like
http://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/categor ... emale.html this or
http://www.toolchestdirect.com/product. ... B9%2FF%2F8this one)for the removable kitchen.
While I'm about it, why are there four bolts to hold each flip up seat in place but only two nuts? Even the parts diagrams
http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... o=.html#23 only show two nuts on each side. Seems almost reckless...

No they didn't. Too small. My next guess would be M10 fine pitch. It turned out that I only needed 4 to secure the unit so I never followed this up any further.
My Bongo had 4 nuts on one side and the other side the seat was replaced with a kitchen unit, "secured" with only one nut. I assumed that the other nuts had been lost and all the bolts should indeed have nuts on, i.e. 8 in total.

Because somebody has pinched your nuts

There were 4 each side on mine

				They're M10 x 1.25 fine flange nuts.
I lost a couple and got a four pack from ebay
Not these ones but the same

Thanks Corblimey, just before you posted I bought these M10s:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0483637180. Have just emailed them to check its 1.25.
I've had another look at the diagram - although only two nuts are pictured on each side of the bongo, there is the number 4 in brackets. That'll be it then: I am deficient in the nut department to the tune of four. Nothing worse than pinched nuts.

Sorry, but they are almost certainly std pitch.
Also available are fine pitch 1.25 and super fine 1.0.

Thanks Corblimey, they arrived and they fit. So, this is the absolute definitive nut-size post:
Four M10 metric fine pitch (i.e. 1.25mm thread) flanged nuts are required to fix each of the rear split folding seats in place.
They did have to change the order as the ones I ordered originally were standard thread by the way.
thanks all for help
