Never used a forum before, am I allowed to ask here ?
Did anyone invent a dipstick to check coolant level, and if so where can I find out about it?

I "used" to supply a marked out dipstick to anyone who wanted one for the cost of a postage stamp...However it seems that is deemed as selling (commercial activity) under forum rules and no longer allowed.
PM me if you are stuck.

At a dinner party with Stephen Fry late one evening, he engaged in the concept that a fluid such as water or oil could never have an emotional attachment to the device used to measure it's volume.

Going on to elaborate, Stephen conjured the scenario of a dipstick in engine oil measuring the amount needed to maintain the manufacturers recommended quantity.
He carried on saying the true test of the fluids non dependence on the device would be measured when the dipstick was removed, dipping his index finger in a glass of Bourbon to prove his point.

After removing his finger, the contents returning to its previous state untouched by the monetary displacement, Stephen resigned, sighed slowly & uttered "see, not a jot."
Rather vexed by Stephens example, i asked the question, what if the glass was found to be empty?

Stephen with a wry smile replied, then my fingers dependence on the liquid would instruct me to fill the glass!

The pleasure is all mine Ady.

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome Lizd on what appears to be a first post, urging feedback regarding the inquiry. This incidentally is the right place to ask.
Never be afraid venturing a question!
I use one of my son’s ice cream sticks to gauge coolant levels.
..The ones he hasn't eaten.
