Bongo Fury

Help please!
I'm trying to connect the sensor to the rear of the cylinder head. The instructions say "find a space for running the sensor lead out from the dash to the engine". However I can see no space at all. The engine compartment seems to be sealed from the rest of the vehicle. I do see a small hole under the carpet in the driver's foot well but it's not big enough. Do I need to drill a bigger hole, or is there some obvious route for the sensor I'm not seeing?

When I fitted a cruise I definitely didn't need to drill to get the wires from the engine compartment to the dash. I seem to recall a gromet in a suitable place, but of course it was a while ago.

If you can't find it I will go out and look.

Lift either seat......you will see a Join/dip in the surround that the seat sits on near the front.
Run the cable to this point and across in this "dip" then put a bit of tape over it so it cannot slip out....It will come to no harm there when the seat is dowm....you may need to remove a bit of black goooo from the "dip/grove first"

I seem to recall that there is a route thru the footwell into the engine compartment and then back up under the dash.
A ha, just spotted that you had seen that, how big is the sensor then ?

I put my TM2 cable through the grommit that the shifter cables go through. Had to stick a hole thru it like.

Thanks for all the help. I passed the cable under the seat as Haydn suggested. The i-alert seems to be working now. I'll give it a good test tomorrow.

may be a good time to mention that there are few/no holes in this area for a good reason,this is the fire wall.in the unlikely event that the engine catches fire,this bulkhead keeps the fire out of the cabin for a while.
