And so another problem arises!!!!

Van doesn't start in the morning or when left for a few hours, has to be turned over 3/4 times before it will and sometimes giving it a bit of gas

gone from not stoping to not starting

just had the studs done to - any link?

Cripes! Have you upset someone in a previous life?

Likely to be a fuel or glowplug problem. Try hanging on for a few seconds after the glowplug light goes out before cranking it over. If that helps, you probably need new plugs.

Are there any other symptoms - is it showing any other signs once up & running . . . . ?

Could well be glow plugs. Does it smoke a lot when it first starts and, if so, what colour is the smoke?

Feels like I have

It's fine once running, and starts 1st time if still warm from a run. It smokes when pulling away sometimes, and when I give it some welly
especially on motorway when turbo kicks in, its grey smoke that comes out.

There is also a smell of I think oil , I can smell it outside the van but can't see any patches anywhere and i check the dipstick often to see if loosing oil and it seems ok !?

Don't lose heart just think of the positive reasons you bought your Bongo in the first place. This current issue sounds like glow plugs which is not a major deal.
Get them sorted then get going on your Bongo adventure (at last). Northern girls are made of tougher stuff remember

Depends how handy you are. It's not difficult, especially if you unbolt the engine cover, and any garage should be able to do it.

Oh, it's sounding similar to the problems we had with ours. Firstly, it didn't stop, the solonoid was change, then it didn't turn over quite right and some smoke. Once again it didn't stop and another solonoid was replaced. However, we also found that ours was very sluggish going up hills (even the slightest of an incline). We were also finding we were getting terrible mpg. The glow plugs were checked and then the turbo which was all fine. Don't know what it was in the end as we exchanged it for a different one as it was still under guarantee.

Hopefully, you get it sorted out, my fingers are crossed for you. I remember only too well how upset I was when we had our problems.

No bought it privately

yeh solenoid has been done then the manifold studs and gasket

smokes, doesn't start properly, smells of oils in and out

just about had enough, really regretting buying it now

Don't give up, remember your purposes of buying it and when it's sorted out you'll be smiling again. I'm not sure what the outcome of ours was, but I'll see if I can find out for you.

Although, ours did have issues with sluggishness and you could fell at 40 mph that it was having difficulties when going up an incline. Are you having other issues apart from the smells and smoke?

I'm useless with technical stuff, but I'll try and find out what they ended up doing with the bongo we took back. The people we bought it off were very good and the mechanic did say that once they sorted things out it would be great. Problem for us was that because they couldn't quite pin point the problem it meant they would have to do one thing at a time and then us take it away and drive it and if it was still a problem they would go on to try the next thing. We couldn't do this as the garage was a 3 hour round trip, so we could have ended up spending 3/4 months going back regularly which is why we opted to exchange it. If we had lived locally, I would have stuck with the one we had.

I do like the van , but becomes difficult to love when its having all these problems and everytime we plan to go away it
ends up in the garage!! More than anything though its the money
