12 volt ciggie lighter and mirror electrics not working

Hi

I seem to have lost power to ciggie lighter and mirrors. Ive checked the fuses in the drivers side lower dash, and they look fine.

Any suggestions appreciated, I was just going to buy another 12 volt lighter and install it but the fact the mirrors have failed too could it be related?

I would suggest checking the fuse again perhaps with a meter as both of those circuits come from the same fuse....

You will also find that the Radio won't switch on, but it will remember its settings.

Hiya
Its deffo a fuse, ours went within a day of owning the Bongo, we panicked  No 12v, no mirrors and no radio.
I can't recall which one though (so my reply is a bit useless sorry) but will ask my DH to confirm unless someone else comes along. It was very easy to do though, if we can do it

Hmmm strange. Thats the one I checked and it was fine. Radio does still work as well so that has confused me more.

I will def double check when I get home tonight and post again. Just ordered a digi meter as well!
cheers

Mirrors and cigar lighter are on the same fuse. Just change it. Diagram available in the members area. Worth printing and keeping in the Bongo.

If the radio is still working, and they aren't all powered from a L/B, then check the rear Cigar lighter, if that's working then check the socket itself, some have been known to have a fusible link on the connectors on the rear. That would then leave you with why the mirrors aren't working.

Change the fuse any way, check the power with a multi meter. You could pull the ciggie lighter out and check the wires are still connected, especially if someones been messing with pulling wires through etc.

Just a quick check as i had similar prob some time ago..After releasing stearing wheel lock and adjusting its position I suffered same problems with no blown fuses. After some searching i found that one of the multi cable connecting plugs under stearing wheel cowling had slightly uncliped causing faults described but with no blown fuses !! Hope this helps good luck

So Ive been away for a bit and havent had a chance to fix this issue. Ive checked all fuses and they are fine. I tried a new fuse (for the ciggie and mirrors) but that had no effect either, Im still without mirrors or 12v (front and rear). Stereo works fine tho I believe thats on the LB.

Ill double check the plug connections under the dash tonight and I have a digital meter (but no idea how to use it!) I should be able to figure it out tho.

Any tips on my next steps?

I think I would first check that there is power getting to the top socket of the fuse itself when the ignition is on, take the fuse out and measure the voltage between the vehicle chassis and that top socket. If there is power there and the fuse is OK, then it might be worth checking that whoever fitted the L/B didn't change that connection out and route it via a separate fuse to the L/B as well, as otherwise it suggests that you have a problem within the wiring loom itself from what you have reported so far.

So Ive got to the back of the fuse box and have found fuse 8 has only one wire coming out of it that has become unattached = Wire A. I have also found another loose wire which is coming from a little plastic box = Wire B.
There is a 3rd wire that looks like it is coming down from the direction of the mirror control that isnt plugged into anything. = Wire C.

Testing wire Wire A (from back of number 8 fuse) and Wire C (from inside upper dash) I got a voltage reading.

I found out the other day the radio is hooked into another fuse so its just the 12v lighters and the mirrors that arent working. Im an absolute novice at electrical work so please excuse my ignorance!

I should also mention it was working fine one day and not the next, no work was done.

Any ideas - thanks ?

Right, well wire A is the original wire that has been cut by who ever has played with your electrics before.
The little plastic box is a Relay, what its function is can't be worked out without following its other wires to there destinations.
The wire B which comes from the relay, again impossible to say without seeing what else is wired to the relay.
The wire C, looks suspiciously like a Yellow/Green taken from a mains cable also I haven't seen a Y/G or G/Y used in the wiring previously, and has probably been added as well.
If you can locate the other half of the Blue wire (wire A) - perhaps connected to one of the other relay contacts? that might be a start, but to be honest working out what has been done is going to be a trifle difficult as there will certainly be other wires kicking about which will be involved with the leisure battery as well.

Are you able to get back to whoever sold it to you maybe they know who added the L/B and changed the wiring ?

The big blue fused wire coming out of the relay is wired into fuse 4. And Im pretty sure the thick brown wire going into the relay is coming from the LB.

Unfortunately all the wiring was done a few years back so not much chance of being able to figure it out that way. It was all working 100% up until a few weeks ago, just one day it wasnt working any longer so I can only assume something has worked itself loose and therefore Im hoping the fix is simple.

Are you able to get a picture of the bottom of the relay to show what wires go to which pin of the relay,
if you look closely each pin will be numbered 30, 85, 86, 87 & 87a or b and there should be at least 4 wires,
so at the moment we are missing one wire - it might be connected to one of the other contacts.
The fused Blue wire does it go to the top socket or the bottom socket of the 4th from left fuse ?
