Fault with Passenger Door Mirror

The other day I accidentally knocked the passenger door mirror. It automatically folded into the side of the vehicle, which I was initially quite impressed with. I thought it would move back when I turned the engine. However, it is now stuck there, facing outwards, and will not return to its normal position. When I try and move the mirrors with the controls, the driver door mirror moves in and out fine, but the passenger door mirror just stutters slightly and refuses to move back. I've obviously broken something. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to move it back manually in case I break it. Any help most welcome.

The mirrors are are fitted with a sort of spring catch designed to release when they get knocked and reduce the chance of breakage. (Wish my old citroen XM had had the same thing: narrow drive with trees to reverse down = regular contact + big expense!) It is quite OK to manually move the mirror backwards or forwards, generally accompanied by a loud click as the catch resets. The servo motor then cuts in and automatically re-positions the mirror. If the mirror is knocked inward ie glass against door, then the switch inside can be used to first set mirrors to folded positon and then back out. Hey presto, catch reset and mirror back where it should be. :D

Hope that helps.
