Hi, My 2000 2l petrol bongo has just made a gurgling sound from the coolant expansion tank, can anyone advise if this is anything to worry about. The bongo has just completed a Trip to France 1500 miles round trip, temp fine no loss of oil or water. Day after returning did a 12 mile trip before sound started, it sounded like water getting sucked down plughole and lasted for approximate 10 secs, definitely from coolant expansion. No loss of coolant and not overheated. I have a low coolant alarm fitted. I waited for engine to cool down. 4 hrs later opened the cap. The water gurgled again, even though engine cold. How can all of a sudden air get sucked into coolant reservoir. Any advice appreciated.

Ahh - just clicked.

You also have this issue. http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=43953

The two combined point toward a head gasket problem.

Do you have a local trusted spannerman that can take a look/give it a sniffer test without having to drive it too far?

The squeal on hard acceleration has been there since I've owned bongo, approximate 6 months. Temp fine no loss of coolant or oil no smoke. Garage looked at it and didn't know what it was

sounds like water pump in my opinion.bearings.gets warm and leaks, but water level doesnt drop as it sucks in air.there are 2 water drains on the side body of the water pump, when warm check for coolant weeping.the coolant system must be bled asap,if its not already to late as chris points out.
