hi after finding out kindly on hear what this whistling noise was come from my bongo(number 1 stud snapped)i had took it to my local garage where they carried out the work, now after geeting my bongo back ive got lack of power on pull away and thick black, blue, white smoke!!now i have taken it back to the garage and they have told me that it has nothing to do with what they have done?but when i left it with them it was fine,no smoke and plenty of power,i have taken this matter to the trading standards and have to await reply from the garage, frankly i havnt got 28 days to spare with out it so looking in to possible ideas that could be fault or any info on how this maybe of been caused by the garage, and i will say they repalced the turbo coolant pipe with something insurfent that i blow and dumped all it water on the floor so i had to replace that myself?could this of damaged the turbo???would be greatfull for any help and advise.
oh and was told the mechanic took the manifold off,and unbolted the turbo,

It sounds like a pipe to the turbo has not been reconnected properly. Someone will probably be along with more precise information

hi it sounds like you have an air leak on the system, its getting fuel(black smoke)unburnt fuel.
check ALL the connections from the air filter right round the back off the engine to the turbo, then each connection,to the manifold/intercooler.one of the pipes will either be off or loose.
make sure all the mounting bolts are tight for the turbo and the gaskets are in place also.

on the drivers side of the engine at the top there are 2 little valves with pipes going to them, from your last post it would suggest one of these is off/broken.

hi just been out with a friend and checked all valve pipes and turbo pipes, nuts bolts and the only thing i came across was a slight blow on the manifold but nothing to bad,now in neutral stood still when reving there white/blue smoke with a very slight missfire then more revs going black, now put it in drive a pull away theres no powerand abit of black smoke but the the turbo kicks in and there loads of black smoke, ive taken it up the bypass and still has topend power but really guttless on take off??

Is there a switch to the right of the driver's knee with an engine symbol on it? If there is, is it on? if there is, it might have been flicked on and off again but the exhaust flap is sticking

check that the egr pipe has been conected if the mechanic has removed the exhaust manifold.this is a 1.5 inch steel pipe that goes from the right hand side of the exhaust manifold, round the rear of the cylinder head, into the egr valve, then on along the drivers side of the head,to the inlet manifold front end, check that all the conections are ok and bolts nipped up,there are tin gaskets at the joints.it could be sucking air in there.
