which oil

can anyone tell me what engine oil goes in a 2.5 diesel bongo engine. ie 10w/50, 5w/50 and so on ?

5/30 or 10/30..... is the Recommended although some Jap owners use 10/40 semi synth and synth as the engine gets older....... and bear in mind the Japs do Preventative Maintenance not Reactive Maintenance like the Brits.....so most Bongo's have been well looked after and good lubricants used..

used 10w/40 part syn last time. but have got a load of 5w/40 fully syn this time. but would like to know what is actually ment to go in.

its up to you really

.it goes like this.
5w is thiner when cold than 10w,it protects the top end quicker on cold winter mornings.
the 30.s is the level of top end temp protection,40.s is higher temp protection,and so on.
as winter is coming.i use 5w 30 semi syth.good quick protection on the short running school runs etc.dont need the motorway bashing top end protection of 40.s so 30.s is fine.

thanks everyone, think ill use the oil ive got then as i do short runs in the week and the motorway on the wknd.
