noise at start up - is it the belts?

I had 2 exhaust manifold bolts replaced recently on my Freda, the noise from the broken bolts was a ghastly shriek whcih initially only occurred at start off but soon occurred whenever the engine was under load - up hills, accelerating etc.

Now the bolts have been replaced I still have a noise at start up but not under load after the first minute or so. The noise is fairly high pitched but not as harsh as the original noise. I tried spraying some Plus Gas on the belt and then driving off and it did seem a bit quieter but I had found it difficult to get the spray can into a position where I could be sure the spray was hitting the underside of the belt.

If it is the belts what is the cure for this noise, is it caused by wrong tension or does it mean the belt needs replacing. Or is there some other possible cause of the noise, I think I have read of all sorts of automatic processes taking place with the engine/turbo sytem when it is first started.

Thanks
Ron

was the manifold checked for level when studs done

as they warp and if its like that might still be the problem

I should have mentioned that originally one stud went and was replaced then the replacement and a second one went and the manifold was found to be warped and replaced - at the same time helicoils were used for the replacement studs.
