Being lazy really,
Anyone know how far the plunger moves between open and closed?

About 3mm or 1/8" old money if I recall correctly.
If you remove the valve from the pump & put a live to it whilst earthing the valve body you should see the plunger kick in & out. Check for muck in the general solenoid valve area including on top of the rubber plunger in between the coil spring & look to see that rubber is smooth & uniform in shape, not worn, ragged, oval etc. if you are having intermittent stop/ starting issues.

Absolutely astounds me the money Mazda charge for these, its like £200+, its nuts, the cut off solenoid is exactly the same as Ford fit to the escort vans etc and are widely available all over Ebay etc for about the £10, I recently found a supplier who's units have a Hex shaft which means even less contact area thus less likely to ever stick.

Thanks again, I don't have a problem with my pump. The reason for asking was for an idea I have to use a solenoid to operate 4 valves.
Bloody sites playing up again, not notifying me of posts.
