Bongo Fury

Following a recent post of mine suggesting a coolant loss, a very helpfull member Norther Bongolow, PM me with some advice.

It appears jubilee clips are a definate NO for the cooling system.

My question is where do I get the proper clips.

I have noticed Haydn 'doesnt sell anything usefull to members in need' because its against some stupid rule

I think the Forum in general were not over worried by this "blatant profiteering" it was a very few small minded peeps who have spoilt it for everyone else.....I was getting them co's of a forum demand and passing them on at exactly what they cost me.......now you have to go to the web shop and pay a little more. When the stock I have is gone...that's it.

OK so the garage wants to replace my clips, so I will have to order some

But the bad news, despite the underneath being great, and waxoyled, and flying through MOT, 1 off my steel coolant pipes, forgot to ask if HOT 15-19X or RETURN 15-190 is rotten and might be about to fail BIG TIME.

Can these be bought, and how much am I gonna be stung for ?

IMO Jubilee clips are fine for conventional rubber hoses - but not for silicon ones.............

I have silicone hoses, the big four i changed,, so what clips should i be using? as i dont want to get caught out this winter, many thanks Barrington,

Should be like these, to prevent seeps / leaks as the temperature changes.

Well thats sorted.

Bongo off the road until my bits arrive from Japan.

Had to order 2 brand new steel pipes and thought I might as well get the proper ? clips while at it.

My Bongo just sailed through her MOT and I looked underneath at the bits I could see and she is immaculate, well waxoyled and not a sign of rust, but my two main coolant pipes are rotten to the core ? go figure.

Samco hose clips are very similar to jubilee clips but are supposed to be "designed with fully rounded edges to help prevent damage to the surface of the hose under heavy clamping effects necessary in high pressure demanding applications" but of course we all know that the Bongo is only 15 psi or there about, so not high pressure.
I have factory hoses and factory type clips on mine..... Sourced my factory type replacement clips from here if anyone is interested, they do have the "normal" spring band types too as well as a plethora of different clips for lots of applications
