Remote Central Locking - Tailgate Opener

I,ve read a few posts on fitting the remote central locking (I have a RClick kit) but I would like to wire up the boot so the boot opening remote switch works.

I was just going to wire the 2 Brain unit wires to the boot actuator but it looks like I need a diode to stop releasing the doors, is this correct?

Also do I have to run a wire through the roof lining, is this the easiest option?

Mine is a tin top.

Many Thanks,

Andy

I may be wrong Andy?? (Hiya :D ) But would the boot popper not be a single negative switch wire?

I have a tintpop too, you could run wire easily behind the trim over the side windows out of the way of the blind gubbins..?

The circuit is here;

I don't how your unit works or which wires it intercepts but I can't see how adding a diode will work in this situation, but I may be missing something!

Yes you may be right about the negative single wire, I was just guessing at connecting both because there are 2 shown on the wiring diagram!!!

I'll try connecting just the negative boot switch wire from the brain unit to the boot negative switch wire (when I find it).

Thanks for the routing suggestion, I don't suppose there is an easier way like connecting the brain unit wire to a wire at the front of the vehicle somewhere rather than running it to the tail?

Re the diode, again I'm only guesssing at that because I saw another post!

Thanks again

In the Bongo, at least, its controlled by reversing the solenoid completely, no single wire connection can do that! I suspect that more modern units use the single wire to control the switching rather than actually carry the current to do the reversal itself.

Now i'm not sure about the latching mechanism on the tail door, & i believe you have a tin top Andy?
So if its like mine you have no internal opening handle... So i'm not sure if the mechanism would allow the door to be opened from the inside when locked?? (let alone unlocked.)

This is only theory & conjecture! :-k

If the door set up can be unlatched while locked from the inside, & if you do have a single negative trigger wire from the CL control box?? Then it should be possible using a boot popper solenoid & relay set up like this http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp (2nd diagram down) to achieve this while keeping everything else locked using the boot button on the fob??

I could be wrong!?? :D I fitted a fair few gadgets to my system, but personally never felt the need for a boot popper...
It would be great though to see it done!
