By chance, a Canal based retailer of 12v televisions I know of and trust, states on his website that all his 12v TV,s have a voltage stabiliser incorporated due to potential large fluctuations/damage. I have since seen 12v stabiliser devices advertised on the same basis. Does anyone have one on their leisure system, or is it dealt with by default on the split charger system or whatever ??

Most devices designed for working from vehicle batteries have the required regulation built in to them, the problem might arise if you try to run a nominal 12 volt device which isn't designed for such use.

When I bought my 12/240volt TV DVD it came with a seperate voltage stabilizer which works fine. I insisted on this after a previous TV malfunctioned due to high voltage peaks even though it was advertised as being spike protected .I did get my money back after I emailed the seller attaching the original advertisment

I have been looking for a 12V voltage stabiliser as part of my DIY conversion. Good news is one exists. Made by Amperor you can find it on Amazon / ebay. It not only protects from overvoltage and spikes, but also adjusts the supply to the TV ( or other device ) to compensate for undervoltage. Bad news is they want £37 for it ! They also sell a cheaper ( £25 ) 12V supply stabiliser for LCD lighting. but say this is NOT suitable for TVs, without explaining why.

If anyone knows more about the cheaper unit, or other cheaper alternatives that work please let us know.
