Trembling Like A Cold Wet Dog.

Noticed a very minor tremble around 25/35mph on my way to work this morning. More noticeable when booting up steep hills, thought it was perhaps a flat tyre or a wheel bearing giving up. Had a quick check in the dark but spotted nothing obvious.
Coming home this evening. anything over 20 (run out of bottle at 35 so no idea if it might smooth out) & it suddenly feels like I have a washing machine on a 1200 spin cycle in the back!
Its a very harsh, high frequency tremor that makes the whole van feel like its about to explode. The dash, steering column, doorcards - everything is vibrating like a rampant rabbit.
Any thoughts from Those Wot Know These Things appreciated.

Hi
Ah, Yes....I've had that on a couple of cars, once whilst in Switzerland...about 20 years back....took it to two garages...couldn't find anything wrong....mind you, I didn't expect much....would have been different if it was a cuckoo clock!....got to friend's house, took a front wheel off to look at tyres, and there it was...a wee bulge...only small , but the vibration produced was massive
Moral of the story...fit a cuckoo to your Bongo for Swiss travel....they'll sure find any problem then.
Cheers
Helen

Had all those signs over the years, the UJ should chirp shouldn't it if its knackered. I have changed UJ's on my defender and that is an easy job costing about £20.
I'll have to look at the members area to see the method used on a bongo.
another cause of the vibration is having removed the prop shaft recently and not putting back in it's original position but having it 180 degrees out.

Tyres can be ruled out. Back ones 2000 miles old, front are 1000 miles new, had a torchlight inspection & they look fine.
Had a fair bit of PM assistance from Those That Know These Things & it points to front diff giving up the ghost - although there had been an intermittent
Swish Swish Swish sound coming from the rear off side when pulling away in the previous couple of days.
From what I've been told, its unlikey to be more than a couple of hundred quid to fix - I can swallow that.
Its booked into Hospital on Saturday for a full diagnosis. I'll post back the results.
At least the back up MX6 fired up first thing this morning even after being sat for 6 weeks being ignored, so immediate transport isn't a problem.
I reckon my Bongo will be promoted from 95 to 97% restored after this little episode.

Rear propshaft UJ is deemed to be the problem.
Bongobits can't get one for at least a week.
Gonna ring Bell Hill in the morning but if anyone has any swift solutions, feel free to PM me asap.
