Hi all,

I have been trying to locate a source of silicone pipes for the bongo, and Flippa tells me that he is no longer in the business sadly, so does anyone else know of a source of silicone coolant pipes....BDC?

I'll chuck in my 5 pence worth as a casual observer on this issue.

After reading various experiences on here over the years, there seem to be more benefits to sticking with Genuine Mazda hoses than forking out on a silicone set that - IF they are up to OEM spec (many aren't), IF you have the correct clamps to avoid splitting after a couple of years heating & cooling cycles & IF the rest of the system is in A1 condition, they MIGHT outlast the rest of the Bongo by ten years or so.

We all know that the OEM ones have at least a fifteen year lifespan & are less prone to manufacture faults.

Stick to the spec ones.

yes, now I think about it, you are right...

they are tested tested and tested by the OEM so shall do.

Any idea where I can order a full set of hoses at a good price? bongo towers doesn't seem to be a full set.

If you want the pretty colours , you can use split over-pipes , but I shall be another one ditching silicon hoses when the weather is warmer.

I have bought a few OEM hoses to replace the silicone hoses eventualy, plus the remaining OEM hoses that have not yet been replaced. But I am struggling to find the correct parts to purchase.

The problem is that a few parts that I have purchased from Avia Leisure only gives the description on them ie "Top Rad Hose EPD". While the Lush Project give the product Number as 15-277 plus the diagram, and the Mazda Part No. is WL0115381A.

So what parts have I actualy and what parts do I ask a dealer for when I ring around. Confusing.

If you click on the "+" for each part on the index on the left on lushprojects, it gives you the WL part no's necessary for ordering from a mazda dealer.

This is the list of parts needed to replace all the hoses, pipes & clamps on mine that I drew up earlier in the year, bear in mind that my rear heater is removed along with any relevant hoses/pipework, which means there is one metal pipe behind the engine & the two hoses to the rear heater as well as the small hose underneath the rear of the passy seat missing from this list & two blanking caps extra on the list. Hope this helps.

Thanks Kirsty, I just want to be 100% sure as to what I am buying to avoid wasting my hard earned cash. As I said the set of five hoses I recently purchased from Avia Leisure do not have either the lush project no. or the Mazda Part no. stamped on them. The descripions of them are a bit different from those in the fact sheet. ie. Avia description "Top Engine Hose" which I think equates to "Thermostat to Head" on the fact sheet for instance.

Mine were perfectly OK in the summer, we spent 2 months in the heat, much of it in the Pyrenees, with no problems whatsoever. It seems to be when it is cold I have the problem. A couple of days ago had to top up with half a litre, yet it was OK when checked just b4 the cold spell. It was just standing on the drive. It's the second time that's happened. I think Kirsty's problems were when it was cold or standing, too.

I'll have to get some constant pressure clamps from Haydn.
