Bongo Fury

I have just got the "Winter Weep" back again this year, and the coolant loss....Engine seems to have no steamy exhaust, and I have checked the hoses with UV dye...a bit hard to see.
Tony crept underneath, and felt round the hole in the lower shield where the sump plug is...COOLANT!...so, a quick check round the upper hole in the water pump...no trace of fluid, or glow under UV.
My question is:- as there is no screw in the "Tell-Tale" hole in the water pump, should I see the leak there, or could it just lose fluid from the gasket, and drip out underneath without showing at the tell tale.
If this is no pump leak, I am presuming it is the Sad Saga of the Silly Silicon ...namely one of the large hoses leaking.
I've yet to pressure test, as my hands don't work in winter temperatures (Old case of Frostbite ), and Tony doesn't like lying under cars in winter, so it will be a bit of a time to check the hose...probably take 2-3 days to take the under-tray off and check.....BBBBrrrr....anything more serious, and it's a new engine!

All i know Helen is i had a water pump leak sorted back in March.. Mine only seemed to be leaking while the engine was stopped?? Been fine since!

Mine leaks under pressure...I'm GUESSING (as I can't see yet) silicon hoses, but not ruling out pump...

hi helen. on the pumps ive seen,there are 2 holes,one high up at 10 past,viewable from the passy side,then another at 20 to,not visible from anywhere but underneath(when it drips).the non visible one is lower,so a leak is usually here.

Thanks Ady, I'll have to try and get to see underneath, and see whether it is the pump or the hoses...as it is usually a winter leak, I'm hoping hoses

Eyup Helen ~mine was similar to Jay's~had a water leak for month's~there was never any drip's (on the drive) but seemed to lose more water when standing, i even put a piece of cardboard underneath (with engine undertray off) none of the hoses were leaking~Ady pressure tested it for me & that found nothing.
It was reasonable on a long run & did'nt lose much water at all,so i took it to Ian Taylor's (Stoke,bit too far from you ) He looked all over couldn't find anything then found it was the waterpump~fitted me one & it's spot on now.
PS mine are the normal hoses not silicone.

It's too cold to do anything today, so tomorrow we'll get the undertray off and have a good look. If it's hoses, we'll get replacements, but waterpump will have to wait...too cold here.
Also, I think we'll replace the waterpump in spring either way.
