TPS or Turbo

Hi All,
I've been having issues with the turbo "kicking in" very late up the RPM's (around 3200), when it does kick in she shoots off! Its had a new turbo and new manifold (badly warped) and the guys at Hillside leisure Derby are convinced that its the TPS, can this really effect when the turbo comes in?
if so i'll go out and play it the TPS until its better.

No idea about the TPS, but a blocked fuel filter can cause delays in shifting up, due to a loss of power from fuel starvation.

TPS does not effect turbo, just the gearbox.
Can I ask how old is it?
Does it only do this when warmed up?
Have you tried running any veg oil in the fuel?

I thought as much, its a 96 2.5 Turbo auto AFT.
no it does it all the time and havent ever run it with Veg oil but not sure about previos owner. bought a fuel filter today so will replace it and check the Banjo filter again.
Really starting to loose faith in finding what the issue is, i've read all the post on here relating to both turbo and TPS's and other thanm the fuel pump i've checked everything, and as i said Hillside have had it for nearly two weeks checking and fitting the new turbo and manifolt so i think everything must be conected ok etc.

I have posted on here about the same symptoms I had apart from mine only did it after warming up and if I ran 20%+ mix of veg oil, the symtoms went away. Eventually the engine started cutting out at junctions when hot so I had to get it sorted.
Anyway, turned out it was the seal on the input shaft of theinjector pump. Now that has been replaced it runs very nicely. The biggest cost of the job was labour.

The front seal is on the low pressure suction side of the pump. Adding veg oil provides a more viscous fuel to try and pull into the IP, an old seal can cry enough and suck in air.
Mike, take the bloody banjo filter out and run without it, see if that cures your problem.........

I've never knowingly heard or felt the turbo 'kicking in'.
How subtle or brazen should it be?
I don't think there is much wrong with the performance. it goes when I ask it to!

Been out and replaced the fuel filter and also primed it with injector cleaning stuff, and its made no difference, turbo still comes in at 3200rpm.
Teenmal: i've had a new turbo and the waste gate as well, and its still acting the same so not sure it would be that.
Diplomat, when it gets to 3200rpm the turbo comes in and she really flys (lurches forward like a rocket).

I don't think I've ever done 3200 rpm!!!

Hi BongoMTBer, i might have to do that as i've had a good play with it and now found when cold the turbo surgess at 3000rpm, but when warm it doesent come in until 3200 - 3500rpm. going to check the inter cooler and remove the bango strainer and see what that does.
also think the TPS is holding it in gear a little long so might try adjusting that as well.

Don't adjust your TPS yet!
Wait until you get it running as it should. You will probably find that the proper torque will make it feel fine.
