Hi, I'm going to get a new loom as I think its the cause of my wing mirror and central locking problem - there are quite a few broken wires so I think its past fixing.

Does anyone know if this is a simple enough job I could do myself or it its best to get a garage to do it? Thanks!

The problem is that V bend constantly opening & closing the angle... The way the loom is tied to the lower door hinge causes more long term problems than it's meant to solve..

I did mine after a repair like this..

The loom kind of concertinas with the rubber at either end, & sits in the door to wing gap horizontally when closed..
The slack taken up inside the wing, i cut the loom cable tidy in half where it had split on the V there it was cable tied.!

I since removed the tie from the hinge...

I decided to have a go at soldering the broken wires myself - never done it before. Bought a cheap soldering iron and wire strippers and set to work this morning.
All wires badly soldered together and plenty of insulation tape used. It aint pretty but now my mirrors and central locking are all working again. I dont think it will last for years but i'm happy with it for now.
And I learnt the hard way not to pick up the soldering iron by the business end.

Cheers.

Tony
