Hi

I have a leisure battery fitted - as far as I can tell it only powers the radio and interior light when side door opened.

I charge it up - do maybe 4/5 runs in the van no more than 45 mins long and the battery is flat

is this norm or is my radio the problem - or is it time for a new battery ?

Battery should power a radio for ages, so it sounds like either your battery has had it, or you're split-charging system isn't working - could be both, as the battery should have been charging as you drove

May be better to invest in a split charge system? How long are you charging it for?

It certainly seems worth getting it tested. My 85Ah battery will run a radio, TV and lights for about 3 days - TV used for a couple of hours a day at least (more if watching DVDs) and similar time for radio.

yeh would like a charge system - saving pennies lol

charge for 5/6 hours mainly while at work - lead fits through the window !!

Depending on the output of your charger & type & what is actually runnning off your LB, that may not be enough, I'd try a good 24 hour charge at least preferably 48 hours IMO.

Also the middle interior light is known to drain the battery even when switched off, I think if the tube is iffy, can't remember, but a search may find an answer, don't remember seeing it come up as a problem recently, but it used to quite often.

I'll try a longer charge then see what happens cheers

Yep - I was one of those who had that problem, but a new tube fixed it My old light was quite dim, but I only realised that when I saw how it should have been, in another Bongo

hi daft question time - how do i get the bulb out ? can't seem to be able to remove the cover !!

After re wiring the cabin supply to the leisure battery I had a similar nagging problem. This turned out to be due to a 12v to 100v inverter supplying a socket in the rear of the van. Despite no power being drawn, the inverter was sucking up juice.

It should run the electric blinds (if you have them) and the ciggy socket, and sometimes the alarm and remote locking are on the leisure battery.
